Working for Unbelts

A brief history: We're a Shanghai-born, Edmonton-grown business heck-bent on keeping pants up and doing good along the way. Founded in 2011 from unglamorous beginnings and fuelled by stick-to-itiveness and rock-solid values, we now distribute our zero-bulk, ridiculously comfortable belts to nearly 400 brick-and-mortar retailers and a fast-growing online customer base. We’re one of North America’s only apparel-industry B Corporations, which means we’re rigorously audited and certified for holding down a triple bottom line that benefits people, planet and profit. We’ve been listed as Best For The World company in Forbes magazine for two years running, and are Canada’s national coordinators of the Fashion Revolution movement for ethical fashion activism.

Having found our feet with our original product, we’re getting set to expand our product lines and our geographic reach - all while maintaining a superlative customer experience and meaningful community contributions.

About Unbelts HQ: Our Edmonton office is located in Timbre Studios at 9909 72 Ave NW, with some of Edmonton's friendliest and most respected creative entrepreneurs as our neighbours. From this location, we prep and ship all Canadian orders, run our in-house Belt Hospital mending program, and hold community events. Our team also includes off-site employees who work in locales from Moose Jaw to Shanghai.

Team spirit: This is a start-up environment where every team member is indispensable. Clear communication; a down-to-earth, positive attitude; and a willingness to work dang hard are what get the job done around here.

Perks: We believe in creating meaningful, life-friendly work for every Unbelts employee and supplier. In addition to an industry-competitive salary, we offer benefits like public transit subsidies, paid volunteer time off, ethical fashion allowances, and flexible scheduling. In exchange, you help us measurably move the needle towards our ambitious sales and community impact goals.

Job Posting: Sales Development Lead

Job type: F/T; salary with benefits, plus commission

Location: ideally Edmonton, Alberta; outstanding off-site candidates should apply

The Role: You'll lead our business-to-business sales efforts, making you a key player in helping Unbelts meet its growth goals in 2018 and beyond. We need you to help translate big dreams and strong values into measurable goals, manageable sales tracking, and dollah dollah billz. You're a self-starter with ideas, specific sales strategies, and the courage to implement them; in short, you’ve got a fire under your bum, and a flight path in mind.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be responsible for:

  • developing an organized pipeline to track the progress from prospect to customer
  • organized tracking, frequent communications and updates on the customer journey
  • representing Unbelts at conferences, trade shows, and other events
  • working with the CEO to determine the monthly and quarterly metrics that matter and acting on the results

  • keen to learn and love the voice of Unbelts
  • able to translate your hard work into measurable outcomes
  • excited by the prospect of expanding Unbelts’ retail reach across North America
  • motivated to consistently meet and exceed sales goals

You believe businesses ought to serve their community and the world, and that it is possible to do well while doing good.

Educational/experience requirements:

  • A relevant post-secondary degree (e.g. business, communications, education) or equivalent
  • Superlative written communication skills - you’re allergic to typos
  • Competence with Google/Office suites / Skype or other conferencing software
  • Bonus asset - experience using a sales CRM, or mad spreadsheet skills, to develop a meaningful pipeline
